FLORIDA SUPREME COURT: New Officers Selected for Board of Bar Examiners.

Florida Supreme Court issued the following announcement on Nov. 3.

New officers were selected recently for the Florida Board of Bar Examiners, which implements the Florida Supreme court’s constitutional authority to oversee and regulate admissions of new attorneys to The Florida Bar. The changes involve members from the Lutz and the Tampa areas.

They are:

 Jane A. Rose of Lutz, Florida, will become Chair of the Florida Board of Bar Examiners on November 1, 2020. Ms. Rose served as Vice Chair of the Board from November 1, 2019 through October 31, 2020. Ms. Rose’s appointment to the Florida Board of Bar Examiners began November 1, 2016. Ms. Rose attended the University of Massachusetts where she received her B.A. degree magna cum laude, and Widener University Delaware Law School where she received her Juris Doctorate degree. She was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1990. Ms. Rose is a Senior Assistant County Attorney with the Hillsborough County Attorney’s Office in Tampa, FL.

Ms. Rose previously served on The Florida Bar’s Judicial Nominating Procedures Committee and the Judicial Administration and Evaluation Committee, and previously received a gubernatorial appointment to the Statewide Judicial Nominating Commission for Judges of Compensation Claims. Ms. Rose has currently been elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Hillsborough Association for Women Lawyers and the George Edgecomb Bar Association. Ms. Rose is also a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, the Virgil Hawkins Florida Chapter of the National Bar Association and the National Bar Association.

 Jennifer Martinez Mooney will become Vice Chair of the Florida Board of Bar Examiners on November 1, 2020. Ms. Mooney’s appointment to the Florida Board of Bar Examiners began November 1, 2017. Ms. Mooney will become Chair of the Board on November 1, 2021.

Ms. Mooney works in the Legal Department of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, in Tampa, Florida. She was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1998 and was the Chairperson of the Florida Bar’s Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee from April 2011 to February 2016. Ms. Mooney is an alumnus of the University of South Florida, Stetson University, and Stetson University College of Law.

The Florida Board of Bar Examiners is an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Florida charged with the responsibility of enforcing the Rules of the Supreme Court Relating to Admissions to The Bar. This involves the supervision of character background investigations as well as the administration and grading of the Florida Bar Examination.
