GREENBERG TRAURIG LLP: Danielle Garno Speaks at DePaul University Social Media, Advertising, and Fashion Law Panel

Greenberg Traurig, LLP issued the following announcement on Nov. 25.

Danielle N. Garno, a shareholder in the Miami office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., spoke at the “Social Media, Advertising, and Fashion in the Law” panel event at DePaul University’s College of Law on Nov. 20, which was presented by the DePaul Entertainment and Sports Law Society, Intellectual Property Law Society, and the Woman’s Bar Association.

Panelists discussed legal issues regarding influencers, advertising, social media, and intellectual property. The discussion also included recent trends in social media and advertising, common misconceptions about social media advertising, how to tackle these issues in a legal practice, and safeguarding social media privacy.

Other panelists included Rachel Gartner, associate attorney at Loeb & Loeb; Dalilah Saper, partner at Saper Law; and Jessica Bahr, associate general counsel at Constellation Brands.

At Greenberg Traurig, Garno is a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice and Fashion, Beauty & Luxury Goods Practice. She focuses on issues faced by the fashion community, including startup phase and commercial advice, intellectual property such as trademark and copyright infringement, social media marketing, advertising, and anti-counterfeiting, as well as employment and general business litigation.

Garno, who is an advisory board member of the Milan-based Istituto Marangoni and an adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Law teaching a fashion law class, represents fashion businesses of all sizes – from start-ups to multinational global brands – helping them navigate through legal issues, as well as counseling them on growing and sustaining a successful brand.

She is also actively involved in numerous professional and community organizations. Garno is a member of the Board of Trustees of the YoungArts Foundation and is counsel to Style Saves, a nonprofit that raises funds through fashion-focused events to provide underprivileged students with back-to-school necessities.
