Generalcourt4

Bradley Arant Boult Cummings issued the following announcement on July 8.

Bradley is pleased to announce that Eliot B. Peace, an attorney in the firm’s Tampa office, has been appointed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Second District Court of Appeal.

“Eliot is an outstanding choice by Governor DeSantis to serve on the state’s Judicial Nominating Commission for the Second District Court of Appeal, and we congratulate him on this prestigious appointment,” said Bradley Tampa Office Managing Partner R. Craig Mayfield.

Florida’s Judicial Nominating Commissions (JNCs) select nominees to fill judicial vacancies within the state court system. The state’s 27 separate JNCs include one for the Florida Supreme Court, five for each of the district courts of appeal, 20 for each circuit court and the county courts contained in that circuit, and one Statewide Commission for Judges of Compensation Claims. JNC members serve four-year terms, except when an appointment is made to fill a vacant, unexpired term.

A member of Bradley’s Litigation Practice Group, Mr. Peace represents business and commercial clients in complex litigation across a variety of industries and in state and federal courts across the country. He also works with clients facing governmental investigations and litigations, dealing with whistleblower allegations and qui tam actions. He helps clients navigate compliance and potential liability under the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statue and other areas of healthcare fraud and abuse, government contractor fraud and abuse, and white collar criminal law. In addition, he advises clients on federal and state campaign finance, election and ethics law.

Mr. Peace previously served as a federal prosecutor and in-house counsel in the U.S. Air Force JAG Corps.
