FOX ROTHSCHILD LLP: Fox Continues Miami Expansion With Addition of Real Estate & Environmental Partner John Herin Jr.

Fox Rothschild LLP issued the following announcement on March 26.

Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to welcome John R. Herin Jr. to the Miami office as a partner.

“John brings more than 25 years of experience in land use, zoning and environmental matters in both the public and private sectors,” said Joseph DeMaria, Fox’s Miami Office Managing Partner. “He will be a valuable asset to our Florida-based clients and is a welcome addition to our growing Miami office.”

Herin represents clients in complex development entitlement matters throughout Florida, including comprehensive plan, platting, permitting, site plan and zoning applications and amendments; endangered species, submerged land leases and storm water and wastewater permitting; and lender/buyer due diligence issues. He also handles eminent domain, inverse condemnation and land use litigation, as well as claims under Florida's Bert J. Harris, Jr., Private Property Rights Protection Act.

Herin also has experience in managing a broad range of land use and environmental issues before the Florida governor and cabinet, cabinet aides, district and circuit courts, division of administrative hearings, state agencies and local government bodies. He has drafted hundreds of ordinances and resolutions for cities and counties, covering a wide array of subjects.

A frequent speaker on government and land use topics, Herin is Board Certified by the Florida Bar in City, County and Local Government Law and is a member of the City, County and Local Government Law Section and Environmental and Land Use Law Section of the Florida Bar Association. He currently is the Village and Town Attorney for several South and Southwest Florida municipalities and serves as Code Enforcement Special Magistrate to a local municipality in Broward County. He also serves or has served as city attorney, assistant city attorney, assistant county attorney and special counsel to numerous local governments and quasi-governmental agencies.

Herin earned his J.D. from Stetson University and his B.A. from the University of Central Florida.

Prior to joining Fox, Herin was of counsel with Gray Robinson.
