Bryan Cave issued the following announcement on Feb. 14.
Miami Partner Pedro J. Martinez-Fraga was the exclusive winner of the 2019 Lexology Client Choice International Arbitration & ADR Award for Florida. Established in 2005, Client Choice recognizes those law firm partners around the world who stand apart for the excellent client care they provide and the quality of their service. This recognition focuses on an ability to add value to clients' business above and beyond the other players in the market. Uniquely, law firm partners can be nominated only by corporate counsel.
For Martinez-Fraga, one client noted "his critical thinking and powerful mindset allows him to solve the most difficult cases; he is able to find a rapid solution to the problem." Another client observed "through his creative analysis and work ethic he can outmanoeuvre an adverse party; he has a hands-on approach."
Martinez-Fraga is the co-leader of the Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner’s International Arbitration Team. He serves on the Advisory Council to the Restatement (Third) of International Commercial Arbitration of the American Law Institute. Martinez-Fraga is a leading practitioner in the field of international litigation and transnational arbitration, including complex jurisdictional disputes concerning common law and civil law issues. He is a World Bank (International Bank for Reconstruction and Development) arbitrator.
On Dec. 16, 2015, President Barack Obama appointed Martinez-Fraga as one of four U.S. delegate members to the Panel of Conciliators of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (World Bank), effective Feb. 23, 2016. He is the first Hispanic to have been so appointed in the history of the Washington Convention of 1965. A noted scholar, author and lecturer in the fields of public and private international law, Martinez-Fraga has been published in 15 countries and five languages. He has written more than 50 peer-reviewed or academically reviewed articles, six books on private and public procedural international law and is the co-editor and a contributing author of a seventh book on international arbitration.
