ORLANDO — A couple is suing an Orlando petting zoo operator, alleging negligence led to the husband sustaining injuries.
Paul Mullen and Cathleen Mullen filed a complaint Feb. 1 in Orange County Circuit Court against Godwin's Gatorland Inc., doing business as Gatorland, alleging the petting zoo operator negligently maintained the concrete slab on the walkway area that was sticking up approximately 1/2 to 3/4 inches above the ground.
According to the complaint, on April 9, 2017, the Mullens were business invitees at Gatorland when Paul Mullen tripped and fell over a raised concrete slab in a high traffic walkway. He says he sustained serious injuries requiring multiple debridement surgeries to treat the massive hematoma on his right leg, hospitalization expenses, scarring, pain and suffering and mental anguish. Cathleen Mullen says she has lost the consortium, society and services of her husband.
The plaintiffs allege Gatorland failed to remedy the dangerous condition posed by the sticking up concrete slab and failed to provide adequate warning of the existing danger.
The Mullens seek trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees. They are represented by attorney Timothy Babiarz of Babiarz Law Firm PA in The Villages.
