ORLANDO — An Orlando motorist is suing a regional transit authority, alleging negligent entrustment led to a crash that injured the plaintiff.

Dieula Louis filed a complaint Feb. 1 in Orange County Circuit Court against the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority, doing business as Lynx, alleging Lynx negligently allowed an incompetent employee/driver to operate one of its motor vehicles.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 12, 2017, Louis was operating a motor vehicle northbound on the 800 block of North John Young Parkway in Orlando when a Lynx motor vehicle driven by Willie Morrell struck the rear of the plaintiff's vehicle. Louis says he sustained serious and permanent injuries that resulted in loss of an important bodily function, scarring or disfigurement, disability, lost wages and medical care and treatment expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Lynx's employee or agent negligently and carelessly operated and/or maintained his vehicle so as to collide with Louis' motor vehicle.

Louis seeks trial by jury, damages that exceed $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees, plus all other just and equitable relief. He is represented by attorney Karen Wasson of Dan Newlin & Partners in Orlando.
