ORLANDO — An Orlando property owner is suing a liability insurer, alleging citing breach of an insurance contract regarding damages caused by a leaky air conditioner.

Leivy Montalvo filed a complaint Jan. 30 in Orange County Circuit Court against Security First Insurance Company, alleging failure to pay for the loss to the plaintiff's property.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 5, 2018, Montalvo's property at 6823 Yucatan Drive, Orlando, suffered a covered loss due to air conditioning leak. To date, the suit says, more than 90 days after notifying Security First of the loss, Montalvo has yet to receive payments.

The plaintiff alleges Security First Insurance Company has refused to honor its contractual obligations to pay for the covered loss.

Montalvo seeks trial by jury, damages greater than $15,000, plus interest, court costs and attorney fees. He is represented by attorneys Hunter Patterson, Alicia Perez and Michael Patrick of Strems Law Firm in Orlando.
