Lawsuits

ORLANDO — An Orlando woman is suing a motorist, alleging his negligence caused a crash that injured the plaintiff.

Gail Wood-Thorpe filed a complaint Jan. 29 in Orange County Circuit Court against Matthew Howell, alleging the defendant failed to maintain proper control of the vehicle he was operating.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 5, 2017, Wood-Thorpe was operating a motor vehicle near the intersection of Interstate Highway 4 and state Road 408 in Orlando when she was rear-ended by Howell's vehicle. She says she suffered serious injuries, resulting in loss of an important bodily function, scarring or disfigurement, disability and loss of earning capacity.

The plaintiff alleges Howell negligently and carelessly maintained and operated his motor vehicle so as to collide with the rear of Wood-Thorpe's car.

Wood-Thorpe seeks trial by jury, damages that exceed $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees, plus all other just and equitable relief. She is represented by attorney Steven J. Tomesko of Dan Newlin & Partners in Orlando.
