CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County motorist is suing a truck driver and his employer, alleging negligence caused a crash that injured the plaintiff.

Shawn Eckert filed a complaint Jan. 29 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Maugly Rodriguez and Flako Truck LLC, alleging Flako negligently failed to properly train its employee, driver Rodriguez.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 16, 2018, Eckert was involved in an automobile collision with the defendants' motor vehicle at 4450 Park St., St. Petersburg. The suit says he sustained bodily injuries, resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, expense of hospitalization, medical and nursing care and treatment, and the loss of earnings.

The plaintiff alleges Rodriguez negligently operated or maintained the motor vehicle owned by Flako so that it collided with Eckert's vehicle.

Eckert seeks trial by jury and damages in excess of $15,000. He is represented by attorney Adam Brum of Morgan & Morgan Tampa PA in St. Petersburg.
