Car accident 12

CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County family is suing a vehicle driver and Progressive Insurance, alleging negligence during and after a crash that injured the plaintiffs.

Hanelore Blakeman and Kyle Blakeman, individually and as parents and natural guardians of Kylie Blakeman, a minor, filed a complaint Jan. 28 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Julie Lynn Heckler and Progressive Select Insurance Company, alleging Progressive failed to provide underinsured/uninsured motorist’s coverage.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 21, 2016, Hanelore Blakeman and Kylie Blakeman were in a motor vehicle traveling on Indian Rocks Road, 100 feet north of state Road 686 in Pinellas County when their 2015 Mazda SUV was rear-ended by Heckler's 2013 Toyota Tacoma. The suit says they sustained injuries, resulting in pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of earnings and medical care and treatment.

Kyle Blakeman says he has has lost the attention, companionship and service of his wife. The plaintiffs allege Heckler carelessly and negligently operated her Toyota and caused it to rear-end the plaintiffs' Mazda, and that Progressive has not provided proper benefits.

The Blakemans seek trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees, plus all other just relief. They are represented by attorney David A. Papa of Papa & Gipe PA in Clearwater.
