Consumer alleges consumer reporting agency was unfair and deceptive

CLEARWATER — A consumer is suing Beyond Finance Inc., a consumer reporting agency, citing alleged deceptive and unfair trade practices.

James Loflin filed a complaint on Jan. 28 in the 6th Judicial Circuit of Florida - Pinellas County against Beyond Finance Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

According to the complaint, Loflin alleges that as a result of the defendant's actions, he has suffered actual damages including but not limited to mental and emotional hardship, physical, mental and emotional stress, anxiety, monetary damages and embarrassment. 

The plaintiff holds Beyond Finance Inc. responsible because it allegedly unlawfully obtained, used and/or resold his consumer report for an impermissible marketing purpose.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages exceeding $15,000, exclusive of interest, costs and attorney’s fees and such other just and proper relief. He is represented by Scott C. Florin of Florin Legal PA in Tampa.
