CLEARWATER — A patient is suing St. Petersburg health care providers, alleging negligent treatment.

Sarah Tarrant filed a complaint Jan. 8 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Dr. Nicholas Nathaniel Healy, Ballan Wrasse Emergency Physicians LLC and Palms of Pasadena Hospital, alleging they negligently deviated from accepted or prevailing standards of care.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 20, 2017, Tarrant was presented to the defendants with complaints of pain in her left leg and an inability to bear weight. As a result of the defendants' negligent acts and omissions, the suit says, Tarrant suffered serious, extensive and permanent injuries.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to test for the severity of the patient’s signs and symptoms during the emergency department visit Feb. 20, 2017, and failed to refer her to an orthopedist.

Tarrant seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees. She is represented by attorney Helen Stratigakos of Stratigakos Law PA in Tampa.
