CLEARWATER — A produce manager has filed a lawsuit against Publix Super Markets Incorporated, a supermarket chain owner, citing alleged gender discrimination and wrongful termination.
Michael Palmer filed a complaint on Jan. 8 in the 6th Judicial Circuit of Florida-Pinellas County against Publix Super Markets Incorporated alleging that it violated the Florida Civil Rights Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he has suffered damages in the form of lost wages and emotional distress, and has incurred costs and attorneys' fees in bringing this matter.
The plaintiff holds Publix Super Markets Incorporated responsible because it allegedly discrimination against him due to this gender and terminated his employment for discarding old floral items into the trash compactor.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, reinstatement to a comparable position or front pay, with interest, costs and attorneys' fees and any further relief as the court deems just and equitable. He is represented by Gary L. Printv, Jr. and Jason W. Imler of Printy & Printy PA in Tampa.
