ORLANDO — An invitee has filed a lawsuit against Robert Gormican, Barry Reiter and Gretchen Vose, property controllers, citing alleged negligence.
Beverly Byrd filed a complaint on Jan. 2 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida-Orange County against the defendants alleging that they failed to use reasonable care in maintaining a stairwell in a reasonably safe condition.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 21, 2016, she was an invitee and social guest of defendant Gormican at the property owned by defendants Reiter and Vose when she fell on the stairwell and sustained serious injury. She suffered pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish and loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life. The plaintiff holds Robert Gormican, Barry Reiter and Gretchen Vose responsible because they allegedly failed to provide appropriate lighting and failed to take reasonable care to prevent the hidden dangers present on the stairwell.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages which exceed $15,000, exclusive of costs, interest and attorney’s fees and any further relief as the court deems proper. She is represented by Paul C. Perkins, Jr. of Paul & Perkins, PA in Maitland.
