ORLANDO — A Brevard County man is suing a wedding caterer supplier, alleging negligence led to a chair collapsing.

Freddie Cancel filed a complaint Dec. 31 in Orange County Circuit Court against A Chair Affair Inc., alleging failure to provide structurally sound chairs for their intended use.

According to the complaint, on April 13, 2018, Cancel was seated at a wedding reception when his chair structurally failed/collapsed. The suit says Cancel sustained physical and mental pain and suffering, disability, inconvenience, and loss of earning capacity.

The plaintiff alleges A Chair Affair failed to inspect the chair prior to delivery, and failed to train and instruct its employees to inspect and identify structurally defective chairs.

Cancel seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, exclusive of attorney fees and cost of suit. He is represented by attorney David Kerce of Farah & Farah PA in Daytona Beach.
