CLEARWATER — A mother is suing Pinellas County health care providers, alleging negligence.

Candice Kelly, as natural parent and guardian to Alexander Kelly, a minor, filed a complaint Dec. 21 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Dr. Martin P. Iwanowski, Morton Plant Hospital and Bay Area Emergency Physicians LLC, alleging failure to exercise reasonable care in the treatment and care of Alexander Kelly.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 7, 2018, Alexander Kelly came to Morton Plant Hospital with a displaced distal radius and ulnar fracture of the right arm. As a result of the defendants' negligent acts and/or omissions, the suit says, Kelly underwent a reduction of the right wrist and was caused to experience pain and suffering, disability, scarring, disfigurement, mental anguish and loss of the ability to earn money.

The plaintiff alleges Iwanowski negligently used poor technique during the reduction of the fractures in the patient’s arm.

Candice Kelly seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, exclusive of interest, and court costs. She is represented by attorney Brett Berger of Maney & Gordon PA in Tampa.
