ORLANDO — An Orlando homeowner is suing a licensed general contractor, alleging vicarious liability.

Christopher J. Santiago filed a complaint Dec. 11 in Orange County Circuit Court against KB Home Orlando LLC, alleging failure to follow applicable safety guidelines and regulations in the construction of the plaintiff's home.

According to the complaint, Santiago has suffered damages from purchasing a property at 2247 Plantation Oak Drive, in Orlando. The suit says KB Home negligently constructed and delivered a home that violated the Florida Building Code, including inadequate and improper installation of the stucco system and the exterior of Santiago's home.

The plaintiff alleges KB Home Orlando failed to comply with all applicable local, state, and national building codes and regulations, caused the reduction of the property's value and required significant repairs and renovations to correct the defects and violations.

Santiago seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, plus interest, court costs and all further just relief. He is represented by attorneys David M. Greene and Joshua E. Burnett of Burnett Law PA in Tampa.
