Consumer accuses Michigan financial business of abusive debt collection practices

CLEARWATER — A Tarpon Springs man is suing a Michigan financial corporation, alleging abusive debt collection practices.

George Keritsis filed a complaint Dec. 10 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Ally Financial Inc., of Plymouth, Michigan, alleging repeated violations of the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act,.

According to the complaint, within the last year, Keritsis has received calls to his cellular telephone from Ally Financial, attempting to collect a debt that belongs to another person, causing the plaintiff inconvenience and frustration. 

The plaintiff alleges Ally Financial has willfully engaged in abusive and harassing conduct by continuing to make calls even after Keritsis requested the defendants to cease calling him.

Keritsis seeks trial by jury, actual, statutory and punitive damages and all other just and proper relief. He is represented by attorney Tamra Givens of Lemberg Law LLC in Wilton, Connecticut.
