Contractor alleges St. Petersburg property owners owe nearly $7,000

CLEARWATER — A flooring contractor is suing a St. Petersburg couple, alleging breach of contract, foreclosure of a construction lien and unjust enrichment.

Al Flooring Service Inc. filed a complaint Dec. 10 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Carlos Chavez and Jessica Chavez, alleging they have a balance due and owing of $6,980.25 for services performed by the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, on May 29, Al Flooring Service was contracted by the Chavezes for construction improvements of the defendant's property at 1205 11th St. N., St. Petersburg, for a contract price of $12,554. Both parties, the suit says, agreed to some changes for an additional $4,226.25 for the extra work. 

On Aug. 10, Al Flooring plaintiff delivered invoice No. 942 to the defendants via electronic mail. The plaintiff alleges Carlos Chavez and Jessica Chavez have failed and refused to fully pay the remaining amount of the contract price.

Al Flooring Service seeks damages, including the principal balance of $6,980.25, pre-judgment interest, court costs, post-judgment interest, and all other just and proper relief.
