Oregon resident accuses employer and supervisor of malicious prosecution

ORLANDO — A former employee is suing Ricoh USA, Inc. and Patricia Ruth Ross Holliday, employer and supervisor, citing alleged negligence and malicious prosecution. Holliday is a resident of Orange County.

Mary Beth Weaver filed a complaint on Dec. 5 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida-Orange County against the defendants alleging despicable conduct with willful and conscious disregard of her rights.

According to the complaint, Weaver alleges that on Aug. 22, 2016, she was was arrested and taken into custody in Portland, Oregon when police found out that she had a warrant of arrest, charging her with grand theft, in Florida. She had to endure 23 days in jail and is still being treated for post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and depression. The plaintiff holds Ricoh USA, Inc., et al responsible because they allegedly wrongfully charged her with grand theft third degree for allegedly stealing her company-issued work laptop after abandoning her job.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, costs and attorney's fees and such other just and proper relief. She is represented by Barry S. Mittelberg of Barry S. Mittelberg PA in Coral Speings.
