Housing authority alleges tenants failed to pay monthly rent

ORLANDO — A Florida housing authority is suing a couple, alleging breach of contract.

The Housing Authority of the city of Colorado, filed a complaint Dec. 6 in Orange County Circuit Court against Clarence Coleman and Topeka T. Coleman, alleging the defendants breached the dwelling lease agreement by failing to pay monthly rents.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 24, 2012, The Colorado Housing Authority agreed to lease its Omega Apartments in Orlando to the Colemans under a written dwelling lease agreement with a monthly rent of $546 payable on the first of each month. 

However, the authority says it has not receive any payments since the delivery of notice but the defendants continue their possession of the premises. 

The plaintiff alleges the Colemans have failed to pay rent totaling $1,092 pursuant to the dwelling lease agreement.

The Colorado Housing Authority seeks trial by jury, past due rent of $1,092, plus court costs, reasonable attorney fee and all other just and equitable relief. It is represented by attorneys Rhonda E. Stringer, Ricardo L. Gilmore and Stacey-Ann Saint-Hubert of Saxon Gilmore & Carraway PA in Tampa.
