CLEARWATER — A St. Petersburg homeowner is suing a liability insurer, alleging breach of insurance policy involving water damage.

Jazmin Melvin, formerly known as Jazmin Strong, filed a complaint Dec. 4 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, alleging failure to provide coverage for certain of plaintiff’s losses.

According to the complaint, during the policy period of April 5, 2017-April 5, 2018, Melvin's dwelling at 1157 62nd Place, St. Petersburg, sustained a covered loss due to water damage. Melvin says she timely notified Citizens Property of the damages and was assigned a claim number.

The plaintiff alleges Citizens Property Insurance has failed to pay for all of Melvin's losses.

Melvin seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, plus interest, attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by attorney Bryan J. Festa of The Nation Law Firm LLC in Longwood.
