CLEARWATER — A St. Petersburg property owner is suing a licensed insurer, alleging breach of an insurance policy.

Christopher Puccio filed a complaint Nov. 27 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Lexington Insurance Company, alleging failure to provide coverage for physical damages caused by a hurricane.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 10, 2017, Puccio's insured property at 1650 22nd Ave. N., St. Petersburg, sustained direct physical damage due to Hurricane Irma. At the time of occurrence, the suit says, the Lexington Insurance policy was in full force and in effect.

The plaintiff alleges Lexington Insurance has refused to pay the full amount owed under the contract.

Puccio seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, interest, court costs and attorney fees. He is represented by attorneys Max A. Messinger and David R. Shaheen of Kanner & Pintaluga PA in Boca Raton.
