ORLANDO — An Orange County retail customer is suing Family Dollar, alleging failure to warn and negligence.

Leida Maldonado filed a complaint Nov. 13 in Orange County Circuit Court against Family Dollar Stores of Florida LLC and employee Wanda Figueroa, alleging failure to maintain the property on a daily basis in a clean and safe manner.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 25, 2017, Maldonado visited the Family Dollar at 3808 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, when she slipped and fell to the floor after stepping in a liquid substance. As a result, Maldonado says, she suffered bodily injuries, mental anguish, plus the expense of hospitalization, medical and nursing care and treatment.

The plaintiff alleges Family Dollar Stores of Florida and Wanda Figueroa failed to prevent reasonably foreseeable injuries and created a foreseeable risk of harm to customers by failing to repair the roof in the area of the incident and/or properly cleaning the floor in the area of Maldonado's fall.

Maldonado seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, plus interest, and costs. She is represented by attorney Varum Ramnarine of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
