ORLANDO — An Orange County customer is suing Walgreen, alleging failure to keep a store safe.

Marsheila Mahr filed a complaint Nov. 13 in Orange County Circuit Court against Walgreen Co., and Advanced Technologies LLC, alleging the defendants failed to exercise reasonable care in keeping the premises safe for invitees.

According to the complaint, on March 1, Mahr was a business invitee at the Walgreen's store, 1920 Aloma Ave., Winter Park, when an unsecured fluorescent light bulb fell from the ceiling and hit Mahr on top of her head.

As a result, Mahr says, she suffered bodily injuries, loss of the capacity for the enjoyment of life and expenses for hospitalization, medical and nursing care and treatment.

The plaintiff alleges Walgreen and Advanced Technologies failed to maintain or adequately maintain the large unsecured fluorescent light bulb, thus creating a hazard to members of the public utilizing the Walgreen store.

Mahr seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, plus interest and court costs. She is represented by attorney Alicia M. Smith of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
