ORLANDO — An Orange County couple is suing a vehicle owner and driver, alleging negligence caused a vehicle crash that injured the husband.

Jose R. Alvarez and Ivette Franco filed a complaint Nov. 13 in Orange County Circuit Cour against Juan Torres and Meraldo Diaz, alleging Torres failed to operate Diaz's vehicle in a careful and prudent manner.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 11, 2017, Alvarez was driving on Interstate Highway 4 in Orlando when he was crashed into by a car owned by Diaz and driven by Torres. The suit says Alvarez sustained bodily injuries, resulting in pain and suffering, disfigurement, disability, mental anguish and loss of earnings.

Franco says she suffered the loss of her husband's service and consortium. The plaintiffs allege Torres negligently operated the vehicle owned by Diaz so that it collided with Alvarez's vehicle.

Alvarez and Franco seek trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees. They are represented by attorney Manuel G, Franco of Franco Law Firm LLC in Tampa.
