CLEARWATER — A St. Petersburg cyclist is suing a motorist, alleging negligent driving caused the plaintiff to be run over.

Litony Ellis filed a complaint Nov. 12 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Reuben Pressman, alleging the vehicle driver failed to maintain proper control while driving.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 20, 2017, Ellis was cycling near the intersection of 4th Street South and 9th Avenue South, St. Petersburg, when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Pressman. The suit says Ellis sustained serious and permanent injuries, resulting in great pain, physical impairment and disfigurement, loss of earnings and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Pressman negligently caused his vehicle to strike the bicycle Ellis was riding.

Ellis seeks trial by jury, damages that exceed $15,000, exclusive of costs, plus interest and all other just relief. He is represented by attorney Thomas D. Roebig Jr. of Florin Roebig PA in Palm Harbor.
