CLEARWATER — A car crash victim is suing a driver and insurer, alleging negligence and breach of contract.

Amanda Keller filed a complaint Nov. 8 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Patricia Masen and The Standard Fire Insurance Company, alleging the insurer failed to settle her claim for underinsured motorist coverage.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 14, 2016, Keller was involved in an auto collision when her vehicle was hit by Masen's 2011 Ford Escape on Coronado Drive in Pinellas County. Keller says she suffered serious injuries and damages that exceeded the tortfeasor's policy limits, for which she made a claim for the underinsured motorist benefits under the Standard Fire policy.

The plaintiff alleges Masen carelessly and negligently operated her automobile in a manner that caused the collision.

Keller seeks trial by jury, damages that exceed $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs, attorney fees and all other appropriate relief. She is represented by attorneys Katrina Barraza and Christian Pipas of Pipas Law Group in St. Petersburg.
