Customer alleges KFC's negligence led to fall, injuries

CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County woman is suing KFC, alleging premises liability and negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Karen Longstreet of Largo filed a complaint Oct. 30 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against KFC Corporation, doing business as KFC Restaurant G135044, alleging failure to provide a safe environment for its business invitees.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 19, while Longstreet was at the KFC, 6595 Park Blvd., Pinellas Park, she slipped on a liquid substance on the floor of the hallway leading to the restroom. As a result of KFC's negligence in the maintenance of its premises, Longstreet says she sustained bodily injury and resulting pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, medical expenses, loss of of the ability to earn money. 

The plaintiff alleges KFC Restaurant G135044 created or allowed a hazardous condition to exist on the floor of its premises, failed to properly post warning signs or notice to its customers, and failed to use reasonable care to ensure that the premises, including the floors, were maintained in a reasonably safe condition.

Longstreet seeks trial by jury, damages exceeding $15,000, exclusive of all interest, fees, court costs and all other appropriate relief. She is represented by attorneys Frank D. Butler and James S. Curtis of Frank D. Butler PA in Pinellas Park.
