ORLANDO — An Orlando homeowner is suing a licensed insurer, alleging breach of an insurance policy.

Marie Guirand filed a complaint Oct. 17 in Orange County Circuit Court against Security First Insurance Company, doing business as Security First Florida, alleging failure to perform under the terms of the policy.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 10, 2017, Guirand's property at 2104 Longfellow Court, Orlando, was damaged directly and/or indirectly by Hurricane Irma. The suit says Guirand give timely notice to Security First Florida of the loss.

The plaintiff alleges Security First Florida has failed to pay the requested amounts for repairs and/or replacement of damages and/or losses.

Guirand seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees and all other just and proper relief. She is represented by attorney Thomas J. Morgan Jr. of Morgan Law Group PA in Coral Gables.
