ORLANDO — A Miami Dade County woman is suing Marriott, alleging negligence caused her to sustain injuries.
Edith Cuervo filed a complaint Oct. 12 in Orange County Circuit Court against Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation, doing business as Marriott's Sabal Palms Resort, alleging failure to follow applicable safety guidelines and regulations.
According to the complaint, on Aug. 17, 2016, Cuervo was walking along the pool deck of Marriott's Sabal Palms Resort, 8805 World Center Drive, Orlando. The suit says Cuervo tripped and fell due to the hazardous condition of the pool premises, including the misleading color transition from the pool edge to the deck. As a result, Cuervo says, she suffered severe injuries and pain and incurred medical expenses.
The plaintiff alleges Marriot's Sabal Palms Resort failed to warn her of the dangerous condition and/or place signs of warning or caution to prevent injury, and allowed a dangerous and hazardous condition to exist or remain on the premises.
Cuervo seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages in excess of $15,000, plus court costs allowed by law, interests and all other just relief. She is represented by attorney Karen B. Parker of Coconut Grove.
