ORLANDO — Two Apopka property owners are suing a licensed insurer, alleging breach of an insurance contract.

Jerald House and Angela House filed a complaint Oct. 8 in Orange County Circuit Court against Security First Insurance Company, alleging refusal to pay the full amount due under the terms of the policy after a hurricane.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 10, 2017, the Houses' insured dwelling at 1087 Oakpoint Circle, Apopka was damaged due to Hurricane Irma. The suit says the plaintiffs’ home required extensive repairs, covered under the Security First insurance policy and the Houses did timely make a claim for such loss to the defendant.

The plaintiffs allege Security First Insurance has denied full coverage to the plaintiffs’ full and total damages.

Jerald and Angela House seek trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees. They are represented by attorney Alexander J. Perkins of Perkins Law Offices PA in Miami.
