ORLANDO — An Orlando property owner is suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.

Sursatie Balgobin filed a complaint Oct. 8 in Orange County Circuit Court against Security First Insurance Company, alleging failure to provide coverage after plaintiff sustained a property loss due to a hurricane.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 10, 2017, after suffering a property loss due to Hurricane Irma at 904 N. Histings St., Orlando,, Balgobin provided Security First with a damage estimate for a covered loss and performed all post-loss conditions.

However, despite acknowledging coverage of the loss and diligently inspecting the property, the defendant allegedly tendered insurance proceeds to Balgobin at a lower amount than the obvious damage to property.

The plaintiff alleges Security First Insurance refuses to honor its contractual obligations and pay for the covered loss and for the unpaid damages to the insured property.

Balgobin seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, plus costs, prejudgment interest and attorney fees. He is represented by attorneys Hunter Patterson, Alicia Perez and Michael Patrick of Strems Law Firm in Orlando.
