CLEARWATER — A former employee is suing a Madeira Beach seafood restaurant, alleging retaliation and wrongful termination.

Shklquim Neziri of Pinellas County filed a complaint Oct. 5 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Restaurants Inc., alleging violation of the Florida Workers Compensation Act (FWCA).

According to the complaint, in March, Neziri notified Buba Gump Shrimp of an injury that he had suffered at work and he attempted to pursue his right to file a valid workers' compensation claim.

However, in April, the suit says, Bubba Gump retaliated against Neziri by terminating his employment.

The plaintiff alleges Bubba Gump Shrimp Restaurants retaliated against him for engaging in protected activity under the FWCA by terminating his employment.

Neziri seeks trial by jury, declaratory judgment, compensation for lost wages, damages exceeding $15,000, and all further just relief. He is represented by attorneys Luis A. Cabassa and Patrick K. Elliott of Wenzel Fenton Cabassa PA in Tampa.
