Sunrise homeowner alleges insurer failed to cover water damage

FORT LAUDERDALE — A Sunrise homeowner is suing an insurer, alleging breach of an insurance contract.

Carolyn Arnold filed a complaint Oct. 1 in Broward County Circuit Court against Safepoint Insurance Company, alleging failure to pay for water damage, 

According to the complaint, on Nov. 28, 2017, Arnold's insured property at 6541 NW 24th St., Sunrise, sustained damages as a result of a sudden water leaks. The suit says Arnold made the necessary coverage claim to Safepoint but the defendant has denied coverage of the losses, causing the plaintiff to suffer monetary damages. 

The plaintiff alleges Safepoint Insurance failed to pay for part or all of the covered losses, and compelled plaintiff to retail legal counsel and incurred and will continue to incur legal fees.

Arnold seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, prejudgment and post-judgment interest, court costs, legal fees, and all further fair and necessary relief. She is represented by attorney David A. Comras of Law Offices of Comras & Comras PA in Fort Lauderdale.
