Motorist alleges another driver's negligence caused First Avenue crash

CLEARWATER — A Tampa man is suing a vehicle owner and driver, alleging negligence caused a crash that injured the plaintiff.

Hoc Mai filed a complaint Oct. 10 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Kara Marie Grissom and Virginia Grissom, alleging failure to maintain, entrust and operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner.

According to the complaint, Jan. 24, 2015, Mai was driving on First Avenue North in Pinellas County when his vehicle was struck by Virginia Grissom's vehicle that was being operated by Kara Marie Grissom. 

As a result, Mai alleges, he sustained bodily injuries, resulting pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, and the expense of hospitalization, medical and nursing care and treatment. 

The plaintiff alleges the defendants violated Mai's right of way and caused their motor vehicle to collide with his vehicle.

Mai seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, interest, pre-judgment interest, taxable costs and all other just and appropriate relief. He is represented by attorney Charles S. Calandra of The Law Offices of Calandra and Inman PL in Tampa.
