CLEARWATER — A Clearwater couple is suing a neighbor, alleging defamation and verbal harassment.
Lisha Goodrich and Richard E. Goodrich Jr. filed a complaint Oct. 2 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Rosemary Meredith, alleging the defendant continues to damage the plaintiffs' reputation through verbal harassment and false accusations.
According to the complaint, for several years, Lisha and Ricahrd Goodrich have been subjected to continued verbal harassment on a public street, being photographed without their permission and constantly receiving rude hand gestures from Meredith when they pass her house at 1563 Jasmine Way, Clearwater.
Furthermore, the suit says, Meredith placed a sign on her property that states the plaintiffs are bullies and trespassers. As a result, the plaintiffs say they have suffered substantial emotional distress because of the defendant's actions that have no legitimate purpose.
The plaintiffs allege Meredith presented a fraudulent and forged petition to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, making false claims with no reasonable facts to back up her statements.
The Goodriches seek trial by jury, a temporary injunction to stop the continued harassment, and any other appropriate relief. They are represented by attorney R. Todd Burbine of RTB Law & Title PA in St. Petersburg.
