FORT LAUDERDALE — A Broward County motorist is suing another driver, alleging negligence caused a crash that injured the plaintiff.
Lauren Kahn filed a complaint Oct. 2 in Broward County Circuit Court against Vannessa Valdez Cedeno, alleging the motorist failed to exercise standard care and skill in the operation of a vehicle.
According to the complaint, on Jan. 18, Kahn was driving westbound on NE Sixth Street and NE Fourth Avenue in Fort Lauderdale, The suit says Cedeno negligently operated her 2012 Mazda so as to violently crash into the driver's side of Kahn's motor vehicle.
As a result, Kahn says, she sustained bodily injury, resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss for enjoyment of life, medical expenses, aggravation of an existing condition and loss of use of the vehicle.
The plaintiff alleges Cedeno failed to slow down and timely apply the brakes, and failed to be on a proper lookout for other vehicles.
Kahn seeks trial by jury, damages that exceed $15,000, exclusive of interest and court costs. She is represented by attorneys Steve Thompson and Stephanie Taylor of Thompson Legal PA in Davie.
