ORLANDO — An Orlando property owner is suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.

Brenda Hyde filed a complaint Sept. 27 in Orange County Circuit Court against Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company, alleging failing to perform under the policy.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 8, Brenda Hyde's property at 204 E South St., Unit 6053 Orlando, sustained damage during the policy period as a result of tenant vandalism, malicious mischief and an explosion.

Hyde alleges she notified Universal Property of the damages, and the defendant assigned a claim. However, Hyde says she has failed to receive insurance coverage that she is entitled to recover under the policy.

The plaintiff alleges Universal Property & Casualty Insurance has failed or refuses to fully perform under the policy, fully value Hyde's losses and failed to fully pay for all of her losses as required by the insurance policy.

Hyde seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000 with interest on any overdue payments, attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by attorney Robert Hoag of Morgan & Morgan PA in Melbourne.
