Customer alleges strip club operator's negligence led to shooting injuries

CLEARWATER — A Hillsborough County woman is suing a St. Petersburg strip club, alleging negligence led to her being shot.

Shaneeka Everett filed a complaint Sept. 28 in Pinellas Circuit Court against 1207 MLK Liquors Inc., doing business as Hollywood Nights South, alleging the strip club operator failed to protect invitees from foreseeable criminal attacks.

According to the complaint, on May 23, 2016, Everett was a an invitee at Hollywood Nights South in St. Petersburg when she was shot by a projectile bullet. The suit says Everett will continue to suffer damages as a result of the injuries sustained in the criminal attack. 

The plaintiff alleges Hollywood Nights South failed to exercise reasonable care to keep its premises safe for use by its guests and failed to provide adequate security.

Everett seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees. She is represented by attorney Ian G. Ward II of Fischer Redavid PLLC in Hollywood.
