ORLANDO — An Orlando property owner is suing an insurer, alleging breach of an insurance contract.

Ronald Beardslee filed a complaint Sept. 17 in Orange County Circuit Court against Security First Insurance Company, alleging failure to cover damages caused by a hurricane.

According to the complaint, in September 2017, Beardslee's property at 5637 Lake Mary Jess Shores Court, Orlando, incurred damages due to Hurricane Irma. However, the suit says, Security First wrongfully refused and continues to refuse payment for all of the plaintiff's covered losses.

The plaintiff alleges Security First Insurance has failed to timely pay all benefits owed to Beardslee and failed to comply with the terms of the insurance policy.

Beardslee seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000 for all covered losses, plus interest on any overdue payments, attorney fees and court costs. He is represented by attorney Katie S. Monroe of Hale, Hale & Jacobson PA in Orlando.
