ORLANDO — A weigh master is suing Orange County and Laborers International Union of North America, employer and union, citing alleged discrimination, hostile work environment and wrongful termination.
Darlene Evans filed a complaint on Sept. 12, in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County, against the defendants alleging that they subjected her to illegal treatment.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that as a result she lost her job, She has suffered economic losses, emotional damages and impairment of quality of life.
The plaintiff holds Orange County and Laborers International Union of North America responsible because Orange County subjected her to a hostile work environment to force her to seek other employment and terminated her for complaining of discrimination.
LIUNA allegedly refused to represent her in a pre-determination hearing.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, costs and attorney's fees. She is represented by Jerry Girley of the Girley Law Firm PA in Orlando.
