CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County woman is suing a food service company, alleging unpaid wages and wrongful termination.

Margaret Danna filed a complaint Aug. 31 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Compass One LLC, alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, between March 2016 and May 2018, Danna worked for Compass One as a cashier. The suit says she worked in excess of 40 hours within a week, meaning she was entitled to be compensated for these overtime hours at a rate equal to 1 1/2 times her regular hourly rate, according to FLSA.

Furthermore, after suffering serious a medical condition within the meaning of the Family Medical Leave Act, Danna alleges she was denied time off and was terminated for pre-textual reason.

The plaintiff alleges Compass One failed to pay all wages owed despite Danna working overtime hours and denied her request for family medical leave despite her submitting medical documentation in support of her requests for time off to care for herself.

Danna seeks trial by jury, lost wages, benefits and other remuneration, reinstatement of position, liquidated damages, prejudgment interest, court costs and all further just and equitable relief. She is represented by attorney Matthew K. Fenton of Wenzel Fenton Cabassa PA in Tampa.
