CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County woman is suing a St. Petersburg retail store operator, alleging negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Janet Alexander filed a complaint Aug. 22 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Bay Point Plaza Inc., alleging failure to adequately maintain the parking area surface in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 16, 2016, Alexander was at Bay Point Plaza, 5295 34th St. S., St. Petersburg, to purchase items when she slipped on a substance that appeared to be on an unsafe non-slip walkway in the parking area.

Alexander said she was injured in and about her body and extremities and suffered lost wages, physical and mental pain and loss of ability to lead and enjoy a normal life. The plaintiff alleges Bay Point Plaza failed to ensure that its parking area surface was not left in an unsafe, unsecure and dangerous condition.

Alexander seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees. She is represented by attorney Paul N. Gross of Morgan & Morgan in St. Petersburg.
