CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County patron is suing a Palm Harbor hair salon, alleging negligence caused injuries to her scalp.

Diane Choate filed a complaint Aug. 9 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Harman and Harman Inc., doing business as Fantastic Sam’s, and Barbara Harman, alleging failure to follow applicable safety guidelines and regulations.

According to the complaint, on April 28, Choate was at Fantastic Sam's, 1310 Tampa Road, Palm Harbor, to have her hair colored and styled. The suit says Choate was subjected to a hot hairdryer and harsh chemicals of the color product. She says her scalp became irritated and her hair fell out in clumps, causing her to suffer from skin irritations, headache, hair loss, embarrassment and humiliation.

The plaintiff alleges Fantastic Sam’s failed to color and style Choate's hair in a professional and proper manner, and failed to take the necessary care and caution while treating her hair.

Choate seeks trial by jury, damages not exceeding $15,000, hair replacement expenses of $1,361.04, attorney fees and court costs, plus all other just relief. She is represented by attorney Wayne C. Mineo of Mineo & Associates PA in Clearwater.
