Pinellas County crash prompts lawsuit against sheriff's office

CLEARWATER — The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office faces a lawsuit after a car accident involving one of its employees.

Chester Dunham filed a complaint Aug. 8 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Bob Gualtieri, sheriff of Pinellas County, over an accident allegedly caused by one of his employees. 

According to the complaint, Mark Reeves collided with Dunham's car at 54th Avenue North and 40th Street North in unincorporated Pinellas County. Dunham says the accident caused serious and permanent bodily injuries to the plaintiff. 

The plaintiff alleges Reeves carelessly and negligently operated a motor vehicle.

Dunham seeks trial by jury, damages that exceed $15,000, plus costs. He is represented by attorney Joseph D. Catania of Catania & Catania PA in Tampa.
