CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County customer is suing a Gulfport bar/grill, alleging negligent supervision led to an attack on the plaintiff.

Scott Ryan MIlls filed a complaint Aug. 8 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against O'Maddy's Bar and Grille alleging that the defendant failed its duty to implement reasonable security and provide a reasonably safe premise to protect customers and guests.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 4, 2016, while lawfully at O'Maddy's, 5405 Shore Blvd. S., Gulfport, Mills was physically attacked, beaten and stabbed by assailants who were patrons on the premises.

As a result, the suit says, Mills suffered bodily injuries, the expense of medical and nursing care and treatment and the expense of hospitalization.

The plaintiff alleges O'Maddy's Bar and Grille failed to supervise and/or monitor the unreasonably dangerous situation on the premises and failed to provide employees with adequate means to avoid, prevent or deter criminal activity on the property.

Mills seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, plus court costs. He is represented by attorney Paul N. Gross of Morgan & Morgan PA in St. Petersburg.
