ORLANDO — An Orange County woman is suing Wal-Mart, alleging negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff.

Karen Adkins filed a complaint July 25 in Orange County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores East LP, alleging failure to exercise reasonable care for the safety of its invitees.

According to the complaint, on March 7, 2017, Adkins was a guest at the defendant's Walmart Neighborhood Market Store, at 4520 S. Semoran Road, St. Petersburg,. The suit says Adkins slipped and fell on a slippery substance on the floor.

Adkins says she sustained injuries in and about her body and extremities resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement and medical care and treatment expenses. The plaintiff alleges Wal-Mart Stores East failed to inspect the flooring that constituted a hazard to the pedestrian utilizing the floor and failed to give adequate warning of the existing danger.

Adkkins seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and and attorney fees. She is represented by attorney Chad S. Lucas of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
