Customer's fall lands Coconut Creek cafe in court

FORT LAUDERDALE — A Margate woman is suing a Coconut Creek garden cafe, alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries to customers.

Bonnie Burton filed a complaint July 18 in Broward County Circuit Court against Butterfly World Ltd., alleging that the defendant negligently failed to provide a safe conditions in the restaurant.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 3, 2017, Burton at Butterfly World Garden Cafe in Coconut Creek when she tripped and fell over uneven pavers. As a result, Burton says suffered bodily injuries causing pain, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, medical care and treatment expenses. 

The plaintiff alleges Butterfly World negligently failed to provide a safe premise for the use of its patrons and visitors.

Burton seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, exclusive of costs, interest, attorney fees and all other just and proper relief. She is represented by attorney Douglas F. Eaton of Eaton & Wolk, PL in Miami.
